Weightbelts
We stock a large selection of weight belts and accessories to meet the requirements of different types of diving. You'll find conventional nylon webbing belts as well as rubber depth-compensating belts, which ladies often prefer and which are also chosen by many freedivers. Mavericks also carries pouch belts, ideal for the traveller and those who need to change their weight with changes in suit type or cylinder model. Naturally, we also offer shot belts and weight harnesses.

Buckle choices include traditional cam, Marseilles, flick or wire and positive release. For precision trim we provide ankle weights and cylinder weighting pouches.

Along with H and contoured weights, Mavericks Diving also have loose shot, weight retainers, D-rings, webbing and separate buckles.

Webbing Belts
Trident Special
An excellent weight belt that incorporates several very useful features. The quick release buckle is released by pulling an unmistakable grab handle. This makes emergency ditching near instant. It's virtually impossible for you or other divers to confuse the Special's quick release with your BCD waist buckle. On a normal dive when you release your belt at the surface, you already have a firm grip of the handle so there's little chance of accidentally dropping your weight belt. You can also lenthen or shorten the belt with one hand while wearing it.
Technisub Kam
A nylon webbing weight belt with a standard cam action quick release buckle.
Technisub Rapid
A nylon webbing weight belt with a stainless steel standard cam action quick release buckle.
Bowstone Standard
A polypropylene webbing belt with a standard cam action stainless steel quick release buckle.
Bowstone Wire Release Belt
Classic flick over buckle. Easy to distinguish from cam action BCD buckles by sight and touch. Polypropylene webbing.
Trident Quick Kam
An inexpensive standard cam action quick release weight belt with nylon webbing.
Rubber Weight Belts - Recommended for Freediving
Trident Wire Release Belt
Rubber webbing automatically compensates for suit compression during descents. Wire flick release buckle provides positive one-handed ditching.
Picasso Cam
Rubber weight belt webbing automatically compensates for suit compression during descents. No need to tighten on the way down. Supplied with standard cam lever release.
Picasso Marseilles
Rubber webbing is elasticated for automatic depth compensation when using neoprene suits. The Marseilles' quick release buckle undoes instantly by simply tugging the free end of the strap.
Pocket Belts - Recommended for the Traveller
Trident Neoprene Pocketed Comfort Belt
This belt is ideal for the travelling diver. Pocket design easily accepts rental block weights once you reach your location. Sponge neoprene design keeps this belt soft on your waist and hips to prevent bruising when using lightweight dive skins or no suit at all. Double lined for increased durability. Complete with an accessory clip and a D ring. Equipped with classic cam release buckle.
Bowstone 4 Pocket Weight Belt
Bowstone's 4 Pocket Belt is ideal if you dive with a variety of suit combinations or use different tank set ups. It's also great for pool training. Using Velcro fastened pockets, weights remain secure but easy to change in seconds. It's always convenient to get the perfect weighting for every dive, however much your equipment alters or if you change from fresh to salt water. The Bowstone 4 Pocket Weight Belt is extremely comfortable to wear and adjustable for your personal waist size. Stainless steel cam action quick release buckle.
Shot Belts
Bowstone Shot Weight Belt
Shot belts are extremely comfortable as they mould around your body much like a beanbag. Our belt has vertical channels to keep the shot under control and prevent it shifting laterally, which could upset your trim. Shot belts take time and trouble to fill with lead shot, so they are best suited to divers who have already standardized on their equipment and won't need to make changes to their weights routinely. It's common practice to weight shot belts for fresh water diving. For salt water diving, Bowstone have provided this belt with two pockets into which block weights can be added to overcome the extra buoyancy due to sea water. Available in four sizes and equipped with a stainless steel cam action quick release buckle.
Bowstone Quick Release Harness Belt
Takes up to 18 kg of block lead or shot pouches in two quickly ditched pockets. Pockets secure with Velcro and a pop stud and are nearly impossible to drop by accident. Twin pull handles let you or your partner jettison half or all of your weight. Over shoulder harness design helps spread weight for greater comfort. Stainless steel cam buckle.
Weighting Accessories
Bowstone Ankle Weights
Bowstone Ankle Weights help keep your feet down and are popular with dry suit divers. 0.6 kg per ankle. Quick release clip and easy length adjustment.
Aqua Tec Stainless Steel Buckle
Rugged cam action quick release buckle for fitting to your own 50mm webbing.
50 mm Webbing
Rot-proof nylon webbing in standard 50 mm width. For making up your own weight belts and harnesses. Sold in any length you require.
3-bar Weight Keepers
Slide onto 50 mm webbing and prevent block weights from shifting position on your belt, which can cause belt to rotate placing quick release in the small of your back. Prevents weights opening or jamming quick release buckle. One keeper per weight is suggested.
Weight Keeper with D Ring
Slides onto 50 mm webbing and provides an attachment point for clipping on accessories.
Lead Weights
Block Weights
Plastic coated lead block weights. Plastic coating is environmentally friendly. Available in 1 kg and 2 kg "H" weights and 3 kg hip weight. Weights can be stacked on top of one another to keep weights on your hips for stability. We recommend taking several 1 kg weights to give you fine weighting discretion. This will let you drop a little weight if you move from salt to fresh water or if your neoprene suits starts to thin out.
Shot Pouches
1 kg, 2 kg and 3 kg shot-filled pouches for loading into pocket weight belts. Extremely comfortable as they mould to your body.
Loose Shot
Sold by weight, lead shot pellets for filling shot weight belts.
Precision Buoyancy Control Training At Mavericks
Good buoyancy control is vital to your safety and comfort as a diver. If you don't quite feel you've "got it", you're not alone. With so little time spent learning and practicing buoyancy skills on an average scuba course, lots of divers feel the same way. At Mavericks our precision buoyancy control workshops can help. Based around the unique Diamond Reef program developed by Buoyancy Training Systems Inc and used by NOAA (the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) for training their scientific divers, our workshops teach and refine buoyancy skills. During our workshop you'll practice proper weighting (you'll spend time learning how with proper weighting and breath control you can dive without any air in your BCD), how to distribute your weights for neutral trim, practice fins-free descents and ascents with total control of your speed and work on spatial awareness. It's a workshop that will open your eyes to a much more relaxed and comfortable way of diving.
